I bought the wife a 2007/56 plate R56 MCS from a Mini dealer earlier this year. I drove it this week and the clutch seems to be slipping ever so slightly in higher gears at low speeds. The revs don't rise much, but you can hear the engine speed increase/revs rise without the car accelerating as you would expect.

The car has just done 20k miles and I know that the wife doesn't ride the clutch or launch it from the lights!

Any thoughts on approaching the dealer for this to be replaced FOC?

I cant see why you shouldnt ask, worst case you might get a good will contribution.

Problem is that its a ware & tear item and theoretically it could be worn out in 1000 miles if you tried hard enough!

(My Fiancee's nan burnt out a clutch on a KA in 3k - we promptly took it off her and sold it...)

Very unlikely you will get anywhere here. We had a new engine in our car at 23k due to timing chain issue, valves etc etc. At the time they said the clutch had 'spots' on it and they couldnt tell me how long it was going to last. I was a little annoyed to say the least, and pushed for it under waaranty but they were having none of it, giving the old "its a performance car, it depends how you drive it blah blah". In the end I told them to leave it. We have done another 16k since them and all seems fine, fingers crossed

For the record, they quoted me £1600 parts and labour for the clutch and flywheeel. Assuming the clutch goes before we sell the car, I will probably get it done 3rd party somewhere

It's going in for the timing chain tensioner rattle fix so I'll see how I get on with this too.
