head gasket gone!
Discussion
the other halfs mini one has just come back from the garage after the thermostat stuck, one radiator and thermostat later,it came back.no problem.
2 days and 20 miles later,it boiled over again.
i thought perhaps the garage hadnt blead the system through properly so i refilled the coolant up,bled the system again, left it ticking over for half hour ish.no problem.
yesterday, she drove it for about 30 miles and had to stop as the temperature light came on again.it had dumped all the coolant again.
after yet again refilling it to get her home, the clouds of white smoke/steam out of the exhaust caused the BiB to pull her over!
i'm thinking head gasket gone!
has anyone on here ever changed one?
just looking for any pointers as to any niggles to look out for when changing it.
cheers.

Quite a simple job and the only pointer I can give you presuming its the 1.6 tritec engine is when you take the timing chain off cable tie it to the cam sprocket in place and keep tension there this will make assembly much easier. Its advised that you change the head bolts while you do the job. Bmw sell a thicker gasket too which you may need if the head is not flat now
