Is this a good price for a 2008 Cooper?

Sorry but this is another one of those similar posts about price but..

Brother in law has been offered a '08 reg Cooper (not an S) with 20k miles for £9000. I know little more than that (no idea if its got chilli etc) but the steering wheel has multi functions on it

Car looks good in the photos. It's black which isn't to my taste but looks quite smart

It's sort of via a relative in the motor trade and he says its retail is nearer £12k.

Does the price seem good, ok or not great I

That's too cheap, unless it's a really bad spec. I know of a 06/56 Cooper (first of the new model) with Pepper pack, 49k miles, 2 owners & needed a service, that was bought by a Mini dealer for £8200

Just checked with mycarcheck.com and its a cat D write off.

Aren't people supposed to disclose this sort of info when selling....

Looking around I've seen a 07 plate cooper with 28k for £9700 - might be a better option.
