Does anyone have any experience of successfully claiming for the dreaded clutch squeak under a BMW extended warranty? My dealer is saying it would have been covered under the original warranty but not under the extended one. This does not sound right to me.

I bloody hope so, because I not long ago took out the extended warranty and have just started hearing the chirp again mad

Have a stern word I would, mention watchdog and BMW uk to the dealer. Its a known fault and im pretty sure there is a service bulletin for it. Its basically a design fault but I would've thought you would be able to claim for it judging by the amount of people who have had it done under the original warranty.

Which level of extended cover do you have?

I had it done under a Mini cherished warranty, I'd guess similar terms apply to an extended warranty?

Barons of Hindhead. The clutch plate was hitting the flywheel at an angle, causing a nasty shriek when pulling off from cold. They replaced the clutch and flywheel for free.

This was in November, can't remember who I dealt with, might've been Andrew. Anyway they were pretty good about it, said that in the worst case I'd only have to pay for parts, not the labour. As it turned out the clutch was faulty so they replaced it under warranty. It's a big job, so it's worth replacing the clutch whilst they've got access to it anyway.

This shows the service bulletin. According to the t&cs of the extended warranty they cover the: flywheel, clutch (release bearing, master and slave cylinders) etc in the named component cover and you have the more expensive comprehensive component cover so i would've thought that they should do it.

That's a great link, cheers for that!

Thanks Miniman, that's perfect. I have been told by my dealer (Sytner) that this is not covered under the extened warranty!

I tried Baron's and spoke to a woman who deals with warranty issues. She said I would not get it replaced under warranty and does not recall anyone being sucessfull in getting it done under warranty.

I will now use the bulletin as leverage and see where it gets me.
