Sometimes hard to get gears

Hi. My G/F has a 02 mini cooper which sometimes is stiff to get into gear. Its not all the time and i cant find anything common like hot or cold. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas.

When you look at the gearshift and it is in neutral does it sit "center" or does it stick to either side with a biast?

Once or twice i have crunched the gears in mine by error when I have been a bit too over enthusiastic, what I will say is that when my R56 is cold, it does feel a bit stiffer when shifting. Once it warm up then it loosens up a bit, this is more noticed in the in these cold days that we have been having here.

Might be worth a chat with the dealer to see if there are any warranty recalls or fixes that need doing that have not been done.

A 2002 Cooper will have the awful Midland box, they all go wrong eventually.

Is there anyway of making it a bit better. Give it a fluid change or something.

Not really tbh, they just aren't the best boxes. Fluid change might help or if she's planning on keeping the car and is feeling flush then a Cooper s conversion is a worthwhile but extreme mod.
