Quick question. I need some brake pads for a Cooper D and most of the places I have seen them online only list the One, One D, the Cooper and the Cooper S. All using the same pads.

Will the Cooper D be the same pads or is there a reason why it is not on the list?

Ta.

Is that for an R56 Cooper D? If it is then according to http://www.realoem.com it's the same part as on the petrol Cooper:

34 11 6772892 – REPAIR KIT, BRAKE PADS, GALFER

You'll also want a:

34 35 6783230 – BRAKE PAD WEAR SENSOR.

I wrote a short guide to swapping the pads and discs when I did mine...

http://r56mini.com/cooper/diydiscsandpads/

Might have changed in the last few months but I couldn't find many/any none-MINI pads for the R56, cheapest ended up being a price from Cotswold BMW online which my local garage matched.

If you are changing them yourself then make sure you compare the original pads against the new ones before fitting them - when i did mine i tried green stuff pads and mintex pads, both of which turned out to be different to the originals and wouldn't fit properly into the caliper. they looked as though they fitted correctly until you had a closer look and one of the protrusions on the back of the pad was fouling on the caliper...had no end of problems with finding pads and ended up getting OEM ones in the end.

Will get OEM ones. Online they are under £40 for the set. They seem to do the job well enough. Just not convinced about the £170 quote for BMW to do it.

good plan to get from internet!...I eventually got them from Sytner Nottingham and they cost me £80 or so i think, and they charge around £90 for fitting!! (BMW/mini charge ridiculous £££ per hour)

Also for what its worth - they charge less than £170 to fit new brake discs! Not sure how they came to that pricing :S

Sensor was pretty easy to fit. Most awkward bit was getting the old one out and one of the plastic screws on the trim was a bit stubborn.

Sorry mate your wrong! my local BMW/Mini dealer told me the secret and it works!!!! after changing the sensors (rear easier than front) all you have to do it turn the ignition key (but don't start the car) and leave for 60 seconds, hey presto lights out and reset!

Are you sure i'm wrong? Are you talking about the R56? (they didn't do a Cooper D in any other i don't think?

Might have a problem doing that when you cant turn the key!

Easily reset on the R56 for £0...

http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?faq=2nd_mainten...

Just a few button presses on the rev counter, doesn't work until you've swapped the sensor.
