Since when has the Cooper S had 184bhp?

Just been looking on Mini's website and it says the cooper s now has 184bhp. I always thought it had 172bhp, have they only just recently upped the power or did this happen a while ago? I can't recall reading any reviews in evo or the like with the new power output?


It really is an amazing engine though! 184hp, nearly 50mpg and only 136g/km c02 so hardly any tax. Surely every hothatch from now on will follow suit with FI (Honda)?

The R56 has always had 184PS = 181BHP
The R52 had 163, then 170bhp (172ps).

Why is evo saying it has 172bhp?

Cars with the 184 engine were from march this year, not sure why it's been kept so quiet but then I don't remember a big deal when the supercharged ones went from 163 to 170
