Cooper S Convertible - Bluetooth

My wife has just bought an 08 Cooper S convertible, which appears to have a bluetooth kit.
I say appears, as I dont know exactly what the kit should or should not comprise!
The car has a mic positioned behind the rear view mirror and if you switch on bluetooth connectivity on the mobile it finds the car bluetooth and requests an access code. In addition, when doing this an electronic message is broadcast over the car stereo asking for the code to be inserted.
We bought the car from a Mini dealer who advise us the car is not fitted with a bluetooth phone kit, but this does not seem to be the case.
Now, we have gone back to the dealer, but they seem pretty crap to be honest. What we are trying to identify is;
a)does the car definitely have bluetooth phone kit - or are we missing a cradle or widget or part that was removed before we purchased the car
b) any ideas what code is required - i.e. 3 digit, 4 digit - and if/how the code can be reset if we cant identify what teh code should be??
