Hi everyone

We have a 54 plate Cooper S and the drivers window has just failed. Power is getting to it becuase it clicks when the switch is pushed down. Presumably the motor has failed. Anybody had this problem before and any idea of cost to repair?

Thanks

How long has it failed for?

Mine stopped working....then magically restarted again.

Only just today - maybe we should leave it for a bit then.

Presumably the window has also stopped dropping when you open the door? Mine does this from time to time and pressing the window switch only results in the click you describe. What you need to do, daft as it sounds, is go and give the area just above the door speaker a good punch.

This should bring it magically to life again; I got this advice from a MINI website when it started happening to me a couple of years ago - it's never failed to cure it!

+1

A firm hit will do it every time a few inches above the speaker. I use the side of my fist with the door closed.

The reason is the motor gets a little worn at the point the window does the up down when the door opens and closes. If it lands on this area it does not fully conduct and the firm hit just moves it slightly.

Happened to me first time at a multi storey car park at the ticket barrier.

You boys are awesome. Three bangs is all it took. You saved me a fortune. What is really spooky is that the reg on our Mini is S14 KCR (Slacker) as we have a group of friends that meet every year called Slackers. Once again many thanks.
