The short answer is yes, it will make a big difference. I won't go into massive detail, as this subject regularly comes up on here (search the last few pages for more threads on this), but conventional tyres will make the ride much more compliant and reduce tramlining. I felt the sames as you about my R53; the jarring ride made me want to sell it. Fitting some Toyo T1Rs has made it much more bearable. Hope that helps.
