Juddery clutch on Cooper

The clutch on my 05 Cooper is very juddery, particularly when cold, as it engages gear and i accelerate at the biting point. I'm not sure whether to take it to the MINI dealer or a regular garage. Will it affect the TLC warranty?
What sort of cost would i be looking at? Is it a new clutch job?
