help - power steering

i have only had my mini a week and im worried something is wrong with it. i was coming out of a parking space yesterday and my steering went really hard for about 5 seconds like the power steering had stopped. I steered a bit and it started to work as normal. im aware of the common power steering fault so am worried that it is on its way out or is it a common thing for the steering to go stiff sometimes when hardly moving. all advice will be greatly appreciated x

I'be never had that happen (touch wood).

Who did you buy it off? Dealer or Private? Either way i'd get it into a garage for a check because of the well known steering pump failure.

thats what i thought i got it off a dealer so i have a warranty. i thought i should get it in before it fails completely. Will they be able to tell if it is going im worried they wont be interested unless it completely fails x

I'd have thought that if you insist that you do a lot of miles and require the car to be 100% reliable that they will replace before it gets worse.
