A friend of mine has just been looking to purchase a new mini and the salesman told him that BMW and mini have binned (or are about to) Runflat tyres. If this is true how do they get around the fact the cars don't carry spare tyres.

Anyone else know if this is true?

Tyre weld from Halfords.

Many cars are already supplied like that including my Merc and Elise

I believe runflats have been an additional cost option for about a year now.

MINIs without runflats come with the get me home kit, which is a compressor and some tyre gunk. Not sure how effective that would be if you hit something substantial or suffer a blow out. But I guess that's what MINI emergency services/breakdown cover is for.
