About a month ago, I bought a pre-reg'd facelifted MCS with 1,800 miles. I didn't want to wait for a build slot, and now I'm regretting my decision. It's now sitting at 2,800 miles and here's the spec:

Chili Red
Black Roof
Leather Punch Carbon Black
Chili Pack
Visual Boost Radio
- Basic Bluetooth with USB
Anthracite Headlining
Chrome Line Interior
Darkened Rear Glass
Heated Seats
Heated Front Windscreen
Rear-view Mirror, auto-dimming
Run-flat Tyres

I'm regretting my decision because the ride is VERY harsh with run-flat tyres. Secondly, the interior is rather dull. The car has the standard chequered black trim and the black punch leather with anthracite headlining. See the new spec below for what I've opted...

Now, I'm also used to electric mirrors, and I'd rather have that instead of heated front windscreen/heated seats/darkened rear glass.

Worst of all? It doesn't have Sat Nav, and I'm finding myself having to remove my Tom Tom unit and suction cup every time I get out of the car. I've looked at the speedometer mount accessory, but I much prefer the integrated unit on the centre console.

I'm looking into getting another one with my spec, and I've been quoted by my local dealer that it's going I will be looking at a end-Feb build and early March delivery. I haven't been quoted by the dealer on my PX yet, but I suspect I will be looking at about adding five (six at most) grand but I will be getting a brand new car in the spec I want!

British Racing Green Metallic
White Roof
17" Web Spokes
Cloth/Leather Combination Cross Cheque Toffee
Interior Trim Piano Black
Colour Line Toffee
Chili Pack
Media Pack
- MINI Connected
- MINI Navigation System
- Full Bluetooth with USB
- Voice Control
Anthracite Headlining
Chrome Line Interior
Elec Fold Exterior Mirrors
Electric Glass Sunroof
Ext. Mirrors - folding, auto-dimming
Rear-view Mirror, auto-dimming

Thoughts would be very much appreciated. Cheers guys!

£6k to change from a sub 3,000 mile Cooper-S to another Cooper-S ... I think you'd be nuts personally!

To put it in to context I just paid the same £6k for a 2004 facelift Cooper-S with under 40k miles.

I guess somebody has to put used Minis into the dealer network.

Do you really need satnav every time you drive somewhere? Mine lives in my armrest most of the time and goes on the windscreen about every other month to drive somewhere new. And how often do you adjust the door mirrors?!

Live with it for 3 years and spend the £6K on something more worthwhile; if any of the options are absolutely crucial then see what can be retrofitted by a specialist.

I didn't like the colour/trim of my car when I bought it - too dark - but I saved £2000 and get a better spec as a result. I stopped noticing after 6 months, and 7 years on I'm still driving it.

ETA: Ditch the runflats at the earliest opportunity, and spend £40 on one of the inflation kits. Tyres will be cheaper and ride will be much more pleasant.

I'd agree thats absolute madness, the spec isn't really all that different.

The MINI options lists are a minefield, when you order the car it seems like you "need" everything - whereas in reality a lot of it is very expensive and hardly on the must haves.

Personally i'd book a trackday or two to wear out the runflats, change to normal tyres and see in six months if you are still so unhappy with it. If you have 6k burning a hole in your pocket then spending it here

is a far more PH way of going about things!!

PH at its best, really. It does put things into context...

I've just been quoted by the dealer for retrofitting all the parts I want and what a horrendous amount it was. Guess I'll try fleabay.

Note to self: stop being so obsessed about specs on car and put the money towards other stuff instead.
