Hi,

My girlfriend has a beautiful 04 plate Mini Cooper S which has developed an interesting issue with the central locking.

When trying to open the doors via the keyfob, the lock on the passenger door refuses to open and has to be opened via the interior door handle frown

All doors lock fine from the key fob.

Any ideas as to what the problem might be...so I can it fixed and earn myself some Brownie points?

Thanks in advance bow

Not done this on a mini but there are 3 posibilitys.
1 the solernode neads replacing
2 the connector has got a problem (clean)
3 The system needs lubricating (grease not just WD40)

Hope this helps

There suddenly seams to be many minis failing with the locking motors, also the rover 75 shares a similar system and this is happening to them too.

From what I have seen it seams to be a lubrication issue. try putting your finger on the lock pin and see if you can feel the motor trying to move if it is then lubrication is what it needs though its a pain to get out. The motor and all locking parts are all built into one unit which if it fails and dead locks mostly locks the door in place making it very difficult to open the door.

I'd take the door card off and take a look in the side to see if its trying to move. If not then its a new module (most likely) fairly cheap off a breaker but they are different to the other side

I currently have this problem with my MG and have had it with the mini in the past. On PH there has been 3 people reporting locks failing within a short period.

Hi,

Many thanks for your postings.

I have done some investigation today, and think I have found what the issue is.

There are 2 fuses that control the central locking and one of them (fuse 39) just isn't seated right.

When you attempt to push in the spade connector is doesn't click into place, so it appears that maybe the holder has been pushed back?

I am going to have a word with the Mini Dealership tomorrow to see if this is a possibility, but any thoughts/comments gratefully received bow

Hi Simon

Same problem with my 53 plate Cooper S, what happened at the dealer?

Has it been set only unlock the drivers door? i.e. have to click un-lock twice to open the passenger door too?
