The Parade has now been on telly for 1 & 1/2 hours. I thought it would be over really quickly, it being a work day. Hundreds of thousands people everywhere, the Mall is packed.

Well done Team GB, but most of all, well done the people of Great Britain. I think "You've all done very well" to quote Mr. Grace, says it nicely.

Got a 'hard to remove' smile on my face at it all.

Why the hell are they doing this on a working day, imagine the crowds if it was done at the weekend

Why is it so long? Because nationalist propaganda takes a lot of time!

Don't see anyone here complaining that it was 'so long'.

I went to The Strand and it was just unbridled happiness.

Remember, back in May, we came perilously close to having Red Ken give this speech!

You've answered your own question.

Numbers would have been unmanagable on a weekend.

Fantastic speech. Love the bit where he says "You even got tube passengers to spontaneously break out in conversation with each other"... rofl

Partly also that the Paralympics only finished last night but if you waited until next weekend all the athletes would've been scattered to the four winds - local parades, holidays, training for the next competition.
