He's calling it a day and hanging up his bat and box.

"Proteas Test captain, Graeme Smith, will end his 347-match international career after the third Test against Australia at Newlands.

Smith made his first-class debut for South Africa at the age of 21, and ends his illustrious career with 17 228 international runs and as the most capped Test captain in the history of the game."

He has one hell of a record behind him doesn't he, from memory he was also the youngest international captain for quite some time as well.

And he's also the 3rd Saffa that Mitch has seen off in recent times biggrin

Correct.
A mod has kindly corrected the thread title to match my post. smile

I never really warmed to Smith as a captain, but his leadership and test mind was to be admired. The stats speak for themselves.

Good player but to be honest not one whose batting style I enjoyed watching.
