What's the best option for parking at Twickenham? Going to be going down this Sunday and thought I'd ask around before I book anything. I know they have parking there but it's expensive and apparently you'll be stuck in there for a while after the game. Normally I'd be happy to go for a few drinks but I'll have my younger brother with me so I could do with getting away. Thanks.

If you don't want to pay for the parking, then your best shout is parking further out, and getting the bus in. Is the game at the Stoop or Twickenham Stadium itself?

When I go, I tend to park on the road in Twickenham itself, around the green. Far enough out that there is less impact from matchday stuff, and nicer pubs

As you head out of London on the A316, just after the Kew Road roundabout (where you'd turn to go into Richmond Town Centre) there's a car park on the left, entrance nr the footbridge. Quite reasonable for all day, c£10 IIRC.

Alternatively, continue over the Thames to the St. Margarets roundabout, go all the way around it until you're heading back into London on the A316.
Then take the 4th left, The Avenue. (as the road bears left to go over the Thames) there's free on street parking by the river.

Have a look at parkatmyhouse.co.uk

We booked a space within 10 minutes walk to Twickenham for the World Rugby 7's for £16 for the day.

I used to live in St Margarets loads of the roads are free on Sundays around there.
I would try the roads around Moor Mead Park - Cole Park Road is a big one with most houses having their own drives so usually has plenty of room if you are early enough.

Not sure where you're coming from but Sunday is pretty much sold out so I'd say your best bet would be to pick a station a few stops out from the Twickenham, get there early, park on the street and get a train in.

Easier escape too

getting trains out of twickenham can involve plenty of queues.

The station is miles away from the stadium though.

Its a ten minute walk!!

Loads of roads in Whitton whee you can park for free, but its a ball ache to get out again. Better off on the train.

It's easily 20. More if you go to the pub beforehand!

Did it once, never again...

We parked at a school, what seemed like a thousand miles away from the stadium, and it took 2 hours from leaving the M25 to getting parked.

biggrin The pub definitely has a bearing on matters...

I used to live next to the ground and shudder at the pain of getting stuck in match day traffic. Even knowing the back roads it was slooow.
