Yellow card question

Sorry but I am being a bit of brainless mong this week. Yellow cards.
If a player is given a yellow in the group stages does it get cancelled going into the knock out stages?

Cards are cancelled but any penalties incurred are not.

Therefore a player could pick up a 2nd yellow in the last 1st round match and still have to serve a 1 match suspension.
