I experienced the same sense of pride a few years ago, but from the other side; I was 16 and Dad 46. He propped while I played 15. We played together a few times over the next few years, and at one point in that first season his fellow prop was 56, meaning a 40 year age gap! I never managed to pack down behind him though, but I had graduated to Number 8 by the time I moved on.
