The Official Gillingham Thread
Discussion
Whilst I am stuck in Paris having had to travel out this afternoon, for work tomorrow, I am pleased to say the Mighty Gills have managed to book another date at Wembley without my support! I was and proper gutted that the game was moved for TV to 18:30 meaning I could not go - but I don't care now........
I do not think we will be able to pack it like we did vs Man City all those years ago, but I am sure we will take a few up there. I have not been to new Wembley yet, and getting to see my local team play there is fantastic.
I fully expect this thread to die with tumbleweed - but I don't care!

Oh dear - I shouldn’t mock (being the OH and all) – but it is hard to take this seriously. Of course I will join you at Wembley but don’t for one second think I will be in anything other than my LFC shirt (and of course other garments to cover my modesty). As of yesterday we've sold 43,500 tickets and I think S
horpe had sold somewhere near 8,000 ,wish they had sold more as it would have added to the atmosphere. Probably looking around 55,000 to 60,000 for our final overall. How's your final selling?
Starting to get the buzz now as long distance supporters are flying in.

Zr1cliff I know what you mean re the atmosphere. I think Gillingham will have double the fans of shrewsbury tomorrow.
I know from previous trips that gills vs man city is more memorable than gills vs wigan due to the fans.
I'm just looking forward to being at wembley watching my team. One more sleep!

ZR1Cliff - what can I say?
Apart from welcome to Priestfield next season!
On a side note first time I have been to new Wembley - and was very impressed with the facilities. Quick to get beer, food and use the toilets, view was fantastic, and even getting to and from Wembley via Marylebone was good.
Only criticism was that it did not seem to have the same atmosphere as the old Wembley - however admittedly the ground was not full.

Fats25, Your game; what a time to score, it must have been a fantastic feeling.
My game; In football terms it's been a while since I've felt so low. A week and a half of great expectation and on the day, a party feeling that went like - elation then, NO! down but defiant, YES!! brilliant, YESSSS!! total cloud nine, NO! b*ll*cks, NOOOO! double b*ll*cks, depressed!!
Normally there's the next game to take the mind of it but now there's nothing till next season.
In general terms, next season's league looks a reasonable one with a few local derbies, including ours and the chances are, responsibilites permitting, I will be making it to a few more games.

It was a great time for the Gills to score. To be honest, I did think we had blown it, we had a good few opportunities to nick a goal but their keeper was in inspired form and as the game went on I started to think ....here we go.
Hope that the team can stay together and there are funds to bring in a few more faces so fingers crossed.
The lads played some nice footbal as well, on the deck and to feet so that bodes well for life in League One.
If the Lions can hold the squad together you must be aiming to be there or thereabouts for next season.

Chesser, If KJ can tweak things a little with the funds that will be made available then I'd hope we could aim for an automatic place, however we might lose a couple on the way, Zac Whitbread being one of those as it's rumoured Rangers are interested. Are you guys going to go for it again?
Gillingham with current side will probably struggle next season, and I think do well to stay up. Obviously Gillingham do not have a lot of money, so I think if they stay up next season they will have done well - I would be happy with this anyway.
Probably King, Nutter, Jackson, Weston (you will remember him ZR1Cliff!) and maybe Barcham and Oli - are good enough to get into other teams in the 1st Div, but the rest would be struggling. Having said that Stimson I think has done a great job bringing some non league players in, and he may know of some others he can bring in.
Good Luck to the Gills next season, and looking forward to trip to New Den, and your visit to Priestfield.

Yep, the youngster that made history being the youngest ever player in a cup final, I think Wise signed him a couple of times after he left the Den, even scoring once for Leeds.
Hopefully, now the bubble has gone and after seeing how succesfully the general sale of play-off final tickets went, without trouble, the Met might allow us to open up the whole of the away stand, top and bottom, for visits of the Gills and Norwich. We've installed special easy fit boomarang seats!! You know, the ones that come back once they're thrown lol.

Looks like Millwall are in for Josh Wright. How do you rate him?

He played well at Wembley - best game I have seen him play.http://www.southwarknews.co.uk/sport/00,news,15321...
However every other game I saw him play (and it was not many as he came late in season) - he was shocking. I mean really shocking - looked like he had never played football before
Put it this way all the Gills fans at Wembley I spoke to were upset he was in the side before kick off! However Stimson obviously saw something in him, and picked him. I would not be losing any sleep if we did not sign him.......
Put it this way - he is not a patch on Danny Spiller and he cannot get a game for you.
Edit - I have just read the link, and find it unbelievable that this is the same player I saw play. I had no idea of his background.......... it did not show in the games I saw!
