Whats the worst sporting injury you've had?

Mine was, I broke my Tibia & Fibula playing football, closely followed by smacking my right arm on the door on exit when skydiving a few years ago.... rotate

Worst I seen was a guy swooping in (skydiving) and with his leg out straight, hitting a small mound and snapping his Femur and hip bone! eek

Nothing bad from me, just a few cuts and bruises but when I was at school a mate of mine got really badly injured during PE once. We were playing rugby and he got tackled, they both fell akwardly and he ended up breaking and dislocating one of his knees, broke his ankle, damaged one of his hands and nearly broke his back. Strangely they didn't allow rugby to be played much after that!

Managed to clip a dry-stone wall in the Lake District while Mountain Biking, putting a gash at the bottom of my left quad that needed 7 internal stitches and 12 on the surface. The doctor said it was a very clean cut, caused by the bit of slate in the wall no doubt.

Hmm...just damaged some ligaments while playing football, was out for about 2 months. Nothing serious.

Ohh and was out mountain biking, hit a stone or something, went over the handlebars and snapped my tooth on the ground. Snapped it in half. Wasn't that sore but got the next day off school. biggrinlaugh

Er wifey has instructed I stop playing football now.

Done my ankles 4 times in 4 years, each ankle twice. By "done" I mean ligaments knackered, ankle/foot black for anywhere between 1 week - 4 weeks and David in a nice shiney blue iced up splint/cast system.

Having an Osteo for a wife is both a good and bad thing.

Rugby - broken both wrists, collar bone, 6/10 fingers, nose (twice) and plenty of other cuts and bruises.

Worst pain of all - having my shoulder popped back in on the pitch (twice) after dislocating it! Even adreneline doesn't stop that hurting like the mother of all hell!

This was all a while ago now, and I've not had an injury for a long time :touches wood:

Playing footie about 10 years ago. Went up for a header and was clattered into by two other players. As I fell, my right arm goes out to break the fall and as it hits ground, so the two other players land on my back. Crunch..

When the heap became disentangled, I realised that my right arm was feeling a 'bit odd'. Turns out that the bones had 'mushed' which had resulted in a 60 degree kink in my forearm, about 3 inches back from my wrist.

Strapped the arm into a shin pad and [stupidly] drove myself to A & E - adrenalin was pumping so there was no pain.

Cue emergency surgery to straighten the arm and fit various pins & bolts, followed by eight weeks with scaffolding on the outside, a further 6 weeks or so in plaster and many months of physio after that.

All in all, not pleasant..

Dislocated shouler and broken collar bone. Both thanks to Judo.

Although it was my own fault for trying to stop being thrown when I was already over my opponent's shoulder.

When I was a kid my mate hit something on his pushbike and slid down the top tube.

OK so black nuts you think, not so.

The headstock had a sharp edge at the back and cut a wedge out of his cock.

Squealed like a stuck pig at the time and I was reminded of it in a certain scene in Deliverance biglaugh

( edited to add he turned into a rapist & kiddie fiddler a few years later so a pity it wasn't lopped right off )

I got sent for an early shower three seasons ago after I forgot I had already been booked and lazily tripped someone up.

Whilst in the shower, my flip-flops created some kind of weird sucker vaccuum and got stuck down on the floor whilst I was still walking. Cue me falling over and completely shattering my right ankle and hitting my head off the wall on the way down.

I wasn't discovered until another teammate came in to grab some more Lucozade. And now I'm known as Felipe frown

Like quite a few others I'd imagine, I've ruptured my anterior cruciate ligament playing football. It hurt quite a bit at the time and still gives me gip 12 years and two ops later.

Less seriously, a week before I was due to be married I was playing cricket and managed to bust one of my fingers whilst fielding. Yep, my wedding ring finger... When I told the nurse who x-rayed it that I was getting married, she said "maybe it's a sign love..."

Wedding went ahead in May, ring first worn in November.

Ruptured ligament in ankle whilst breaking my leg (football), made all the worse by me trying to walk on it on a night out before going to hospital. Didn't really hurt until I woke up the following morning with my ankle the size of my thigh. Leg healed quickly - circa 5 weeks. But ankle/ligaments still giving me st in this cold weather. Although it was only 5 months ago hehe

How is 'smacking your arm on the door on exit' a bad injury?

If you can count golf as a sport, smashed my skull just above my left eye and ended up with a bit of bruising to the brain, I was told after that of the club had hit an inch either way I probably would have been dead!

All rugby related

1. broke my nose, had it pulled back into place temporarily and then sorted later (luckily our physio was a face specialist at the time, the other was a gynaecologist laugh )

2. Dislocated my shoulder, had it popped back in and then carried on no problem until after the match when I thought "bugger me, that hurts!"

3. The one that ended my pro career - Compound fracture in my knee, torn hamstring and torn MCL.... problem was that i did this 5 minutes into the game but then continued to the end of the match (passing out in the last 2 minutes) which probably caused even more problems!

Worst inury I saw was when my friend was trod on during a rugby game, and ended up with his shin bone piercing through his skin hehe
