Anybody been to the Nou Camp?
Discussion
I have a football daft 7 year old son and would like to take him to a game in Barcelona in April.
Been on the website looking at tickets but not sure which area would be best, dont really want to end up in with the flare burning fanatics with a kid in tow!
Also whats the tour like? and any recommendations on accomodation nearby.
Thanks.

I can't comment on going to a game, but I did do the tour. The tour is well worth the money, you get to see all the stuff you wouldn't normally get to see obviously.
The stadium is simply breath taking, you will have seen it on the TV absolutely full and when you go in and it's empty you can imagine what it is like when it is full. It is staggeringly big. All the tour is fantastic, you get a 3d type display at the beginning, trophy rooms, players lounge, tunnel and you get a history of the club thing at the end. I think the whole thing takes a couple of hours in total.
I cant comment on the accomadation as we did not stay in Barcelona we were doing the F1 race up the road a bit and stayed about an hour from Barcelona centre. I think from the centre it cost us about 8 Euros in a taxi. After the Stadium tour we went and did the Rambles and that was really goods aswell, just keep your hands in your pockets on your money/wallet as there are many pick pockets about and althugh none of us got dipped there were loads of people who had and the English people were all telling us to keep an eye on what was going on! You have been warned. Also when on the Rambles have a look around the indoor Spanish market, live Crabs and stuff and they were slaughtering stuff that you picked etc. Really good. We only did probably half of the Rambles but really enjoyed in Barcelona.
Hope this helps. Have fun!

I live in Barcelona, Camp Nou (local way of saying it) is an excellent tour and very good fun. You get to see the dressing rooms, the stadium from all heights and just about everything.
Games, I would choose a cat C game as Cat A is Madrid, B, most other good teams and C, those like Malaga. It´s the atmosphere rather than the game you will get, but it will be well worth it. Games can start very late 2200 sometimes.
Accomodation: everywhere is accessible by walking or metro, or cheap taxi´s, so I would go a little out of town (500m) where it will be cheaper and not as noisy.
Flying in: Get the train in (€7.85 for 10 rides)to Barcelona and have plenty of tickets to move about the city on.
Good luck

A few years ago eight of us on a stag do got tickets for the last home game of the season at Camp Nou (when they paraded the La Liga trophy before the game) against Villareal. We couldn't get seats anywhere near each other but who cares. There was a massive sing-song before the kick off and a display of flag lifting to make the club logo etc by each side of the stadium that looked incredible!
It was an amazing, lifetime memory type experience - 90 odd thousand packed in on a warm evening and a cracking game to boot (finished 3-2 to Barca). At about half time a massive rain storm moved in and it was noticeable that a lot of the locals dashed for cover and didn't come back out for the second half, but us brits simply fetched our beers, then put the flags they provided on every seat on our heads and soldiered on. To see the rain approaching in the glare of the floods on the far side of the stadium (which is a bloody long way away) was quite a sight!
I've also seen a game at the Bernebau (spelling?) with the same bunch of lads but Camp Nou was better. Only the San Siro left now for us to complete europe's holy trinity of football stadia!

I went in august last year fir the second time. I stayed in Calella, which is an hour away on the train. The city is beautiful, and as said before, the Nou Camp is a must. We went on the tour, and it was fantastic. We had been to the Nou Camp before, but did watch a game or see the tour.
It is very high. It's takes you to the commentary box the the very top of the stadium and it overhangs all of the seats, without any protection glass!!
It's still well worth it though.
