I'm not sure i can go through it all again. The media hype, the ridiculous personal scnadal, pundits convincing themselves we're going to win it, the group stage wobble, the cheating in a game with some latin country, the refereeing scandal, the clash with some country we used to be at war with, people wearing brazillian shirts because they are cool, the game with the horrible, dreadful injustice, the scots all want england to lose, and then we do, on penalties.

I might just not bother this time round.

Is anyone else considering taking the fuse out of the telly this summer?

Hopefully it'll be a lovely summer and I can get out in the Caterham on warm evenings with no traffic as everyone is watching the matches.

I'm sure I'll end up watching some football, but I certainly won't be planning my social life around it.

Everything you describe is what makes the world cup so great, the passion, the heart break and the whole of England united. I will be watching every minute of it and loving it even though I know it'll end in tears.

The BBC are taking 150 people and spending £1 million on a special glass box on the top on a hotel in Cape Town no doubt to be out of the way of the muggers, druggies and prostitutes even though England are guaranteed to only play one match there the whole tournament.

Seems like a lot of money to spend covering a team that's only going to be playing 3 matches in total anyway wink

Is it wrong to hope that some terrorists will kill them all?

Not at all, although i think just a lone sniper would suffice, we dont need to start a war with south africa do we? Just getting rid of some overpaid morons.

I hate football with a vengeance! No way will I stay in a room with the world cup on, and they're even trying to get it at some of the beer tents and bars at LeMans.
On a brighter note, at least the roads will be quieter when there are matches on!

I love the world cup

the anticipation
the entire nation getting hyped up
st george's crosses on cars
pubs packed
the buzz when england get through the group phase
the belief they can go all the way
the despair getting knocked out of the last 16
the fights outside the pubs
the four week inquisition in the press of the national team

I love the world cup

Yep, nothing better than seeing the knuckle draggers advertising their loyalty to England by sticking the St Georges Cross on a Renault Scenic....

I will be out in Jo'berg at the International Broadcast Centre for the entire World Cup. Wish me luck dodging the snipers.
Only one sniper is going so you might be ok.
