Carragher won't be going, but I reckon King might (his fitness is a worry). Zamora - maybe, but I think if he does it just demonstrates our lack of strength in depth of strikers (and other areas too). He has had a good season, but put him infront of a world class defence and I just think he will struggle.

Midfield is interesting, with Barry doubtfull, who will be centre mid cover? Based on previous form, Hargreves could but he hasn't played so dont think Cap will take the chance.

Milner. He can play anywhere in midfield.

In fact I think He should simply replace Gerrard. Gerrard and Lampard are both class players but together for England, never quite gelled so I'd try Milner & Lampard.

Has Hargreaves even been playing? In the squad maybe but certainly not in the first team.

Anyway, it's all about the best TEAM, not necessarily the best players. Some players are brilliant at club level but just can't replicate that form when playing for England.

I think Zamora might make it. He's on form and is, as I remember, quite a sizeable physical player which England have lacked (Heskey never quite delivered), Rooney excepted but always needs a good physical player to "bounce" off. Zamora will prob be a sub though rather than first team, someone to bring on if Defoe/Crouch can't break through a defence.

Anyway, we're all speculating (and talking rubbish no doubt biggrin) and Capello knows far more about the game than we do so let's see what he does.

are you insane? replace one of the best players in the world with milner?

i think its widely mooted within football circles that most would drop lump-ard way before gerrard.

milner & gerrard maybe, but fat frank, no.

my choice would be.

James.

terry, king, cole, johnson

gerrard lennon walcott cole

crouch rooney

You can't take King or Hargreves, both far too injury prone.

I'm also going to stick my neck out here and say that Milner will be our breakout player this tournament. He looked outstanding last time he played for England.

Anyone else want to bet that Beckham goes as a 'coach' so he can actually touch the cup if we win?

You have to take King - he's the best English defender at the moment - Terry and Rio haven't shone this season. I'd say that Dawson has been on better form than them both.

Sol Campbell has got to be in there somewhere hehe

Seriously I'd take both King and Dawson, as much as it pains me to admit they've been immense this season, I'd also pick Gerrard over Lampard, he has too many ineffective games for England.

Green/Hart

Johnson Terry Ferdinand A.Cole

Carrick Lampard

Walcott/ Gerrard
Lennon
Rooney Heskey

Thats assuming Barry is injured. Don't think hragreaves is ready. (will he ever be frown )

Rest of the squad would be:

James
King
Dawson/Jagielka/Upson
Baines
J.cole
Milner
Parker
Crouch
Bent
Defoe

No out& out RB cover, but milner, jagielka and upson can all do a job there.

Yeas, but that was with some defensivley mided midfielders behind him, doing the dirty work and allowing him to play. Who out of those other 3 midfielders is going defend????

Walcott should not be in the starting team, no where near consistent enough, especially not for Milner who has been epic this season.

Carragher to be announced in the squad apparently. I'm a Carra fan, but he hasn't had the best of seasons. Are we that short of defenders?

Terry
Ferdinand
Jagielka
Upson
King
Dawson
Brown
(If he's still alive) Woodgate

These should all be ahead of Carragher for spaces in the world cup squad as centre halves
