he said he wouldnt play because he didnt want to be alongside Terry, so does that mean IF terry is out, Fabio can get on the phone and say, oi, Bridge, get yer passport?

Interesting point Craig, very interesting. I would speculate that yes that would be a possibility.

However, his recent form has been very poor

agreed, but you cant knock the lad, he has had a bit of a stty year, and his form, although not peak, is still enough to warrant a ticket.

I'm not so sure. He got given the run around buy Lennon, Bentley and Kaboul in the last game I saw. He can't be anymore than 4th choice at best.

all of his own doing

if he can't set aside his misguided differences when certain players are fit he shouldn't be entitled to a place in the squad when others aren't

if people make the choice to retire from international football they shouldn't be entitled to just change their minds when they feel it would suit them - it will make other players consider the value of opportunity and prestige to represent their country at a WC, not be something they can pick and choose as and when

Do they not play in different positions?

yes they do, the question isn't about putting bridge into terry's position but if he should be included within the squad due to terry's absence

Whilst I can understand Bridge's reasons for withdrawing from the squad, I can't help but think that if I were a footballer it'd take a lot more than what amounts to a love dispute to stop me going to the World Cup.

If Terry was still captain I could see it being more of an issue but he's not.

I also agree that we shouldn't now start begging WB to go just because Terry potentially isn't. He's made his choice, let him stay at home.

Bridge is a fking big cry baby for refusing to play for his country just because terry shagged his bird. Frankly I wouldn't want the spineless turd anywhere near a team I was running.

craig - whether he makes himself available or not capello will weaken his positition if he brings him back in, besides he's already got that position covered by three others

in any case it's academic - looks like terry's injury isn't as bad as first thought

He took a knock in training, all of a sudden we appear to be losing the World Cup, over reaction?

Terry is obviously a good player but he's not world class and others can come in that will do the job pretty much as well as he can. At the highest level he is short of pace, that is less of an issue when he is playing for Chelsea where he's playing behind a midfield who are nearly always bossing the game. The likes of Torres when he is playing for Spain is much harder to handle than when he is playing for Liverpool for example. I'd be much more worried about Ashley Cole being injured.....he's definitely world class and we don't have anyone anywhere near his level to come in. In fact after Rooney I would say Cole is England's most important player.

Terry isn't even the third best centre we have with the form he's in.

He's not good enough & I don't think he'd make himself available anyway. If he did I wouldn't just take him out of sympathy, it can't have been nice for him but other players have been through worse & not gone to the world cup as a result
