Just thought i'd ask peoples perspectives on this. I quite like outdoorsy stuff and will think nothing of flying between trees on a pair of wooden sticks, but view the same thing on a mountain bike as having a high probability of death - and yet I also ride a motorbike and have on occasion been known to exceed mountain bike speeds on it.
So which of these would you consider the most likely to result in injury? cycling along to get taken out by a numpty car driver busy composing a cyclist rant for PH on his iphone? Surfing along looking the business only to fall off and get a board to the back of the head?

I voted mountain biking as when I used to race I came back with a different scar every week, dislocated my collar bone 3 times, broke my wrist, gouged my shin through to the bone on one of the pedals, knocked myself clean out during a race and so on until I broke my back showing off on some jumps!
I've also seen a chap face plant, shattering his pallet (roof of his mouth)!

Your poll doesn't include "shagging".
Snapped banjo stings aren't that common.Stubbed cocks on the perineum aren't that common either.
Punctured lungs can happen I suppose.
So what on earth are you thinking?

I voted climbing because even doing it carefully and non-competitively, you still get injured. I could go for a ski or cycle down an easy slope, and there's no chance of injury unless some numpty wasn't paying attention; even a simple route when you're not warmed up and you lunge for a hold could have you popping a ligament or you might slip and graze a knee/elbow/shoulder. It's the only sport I've regularly injured myself to some degree in. Skateboarding, by comparison, wasn't so bad, although I did suffer the occasional grazed elbow and did sprain an ankle.
Per hour of activity it's football. You have less potential for death but fractures and the like are very common.
Not to mention "degloving" the ring finger by catching a wedding ring on the hooks trying to jump up and attach the goal net
ETA of the list I voted for skiing as there's huge potential for injury combined with a population that doesn't get that much practice.

Depends on how serious an injury we are talking, I mean, nipple rash/rub is painful (and common) in running, as are minor injuries to the feet, ankles and knees.
Exactly - wetsuit rash is not pleasant. Nor is standing on a weaver fish. I imagine getting bitten by a shark could smart a bit as well.Gassing Station | Sports | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

kered knees from years of climbing, not to mention mates who all seem to have lost mates from falls etc.
You sound rubbish, I hardly ever injured myself.
