With all that's going on around the World Cup and how Eng-er-land are the best team in the whole wide world (until the press turn on them) - Am I the only person that isn't that bothered about the world cup?

I seem to be more interested in stories that I hear and read about Fifa preventing local shop owners, that are near football stadiums, from opening within 12 hours of a match.

Ironcially I'm not that interested, I say ironically as I'm on the way to the airport to head out and work on it for 10 days.

As it's the first one since France '98 I'll be able to watch as a 'punter' my interest might come back, but after working in and around 'the beautiful game' for about 12 years it's killed my love for the sport.

I'm in the "not that interested" camp. I'll follow the results, see a few games on TV no doubt but won't be planning my summer social life around watching the matches, nor will I be bothered if I miss the England matches. I'll undoubtedly get sick of the media over-hyping, over-analysing and over-reacting to it all, but that's just normal in our sensationalist country.

It doesn't get better than this. I love the atmosphere, I love the minnows pitted against the giants. I love the upsets.

It's not just about England for me, the whole competition is riveting.

I'm not a football fan really, but it's the over-hyping and over-analyzing that annoys the hell out of me - I'm sure other countries do it to their own team, but the UK press seems to have taken it to a whole new art form.

Every time I hear anything about 1966 and when "we" won the world cup, it makes me cringe with embarassment - as for the song "three lions", that is, without a doubt, the most cringeworthy thing I've every had the misfortune to listen to*: "Thirty years of hurt"? Oh, c'mon.....

* And that includes the John Barnes rap...

I can play the game, I used to be very good at it, I just have become totally disillusioned by all the crap that surrounds the game these days.

Same here, I've been a big fan in the past of football at all levels, but would rather go and watch a decent non league match rather than the bunch of over paid prima donna mercenaries at the highest level. There is something obscene going on when a Premiership club can pay x amount of thousands per week to a player yet can't afford to pay it's bills to the ordinary working man/business. Totally disillusioned by football at the top.

Hopefully England will lose all games and go out very quickly, then we will have less of this st on the tellybiggrin

I'm more interesting in World Cups/European championships than domestic football to be honest, I love international tournaments.

Exactly my thoughts, most of the entertainment comes from the Argie supporting Scots who love nothing more than to see England lose. Shame they're not in it themselves 'cause that usually doubles the entertainment factor seeing the disappointment that always follows smile

Where is the "I care less about the world cup than I do about global warming" option?

Those of us who enjoy taking advantage of quiet roads want Engerland to go as far as possible!
