Its my Dads 65th coming up and in the past couple of years he has taken up Bowls.

He plays all year round so indoor and outdoor and I would like to buy him a set of Bowls for his Birthday.

Now, what do I need to know to be able to get him a set and also any recommendations re makes, where to buy etc would be much appreciated.

I'm assuming weight and bias are the main things but is there anything else.

Not really to sure on budget as havent got a clue how much they are!

taylor or drakes

or drakes bowls

check website for stockist.

not all bowls suitable for indoor and outdoor

they are expensive new

weight and bias will have a bearing on choice, like darts bowls are weighted and so down to personal preference.

It's quite a personal thing, so I'd recommend getting him to try out a few different brands / styles / weights etc rather than trying to surprise him and ending up with something that doesn;t really suit him.

Cheers for the responses.

Are there any sort of major events where there may be a trade area to test /buy woods? could have a nice day out and surprise him with the purchase.

has he got his own woods, as a lot of people tend to stick with them as they are used to them.
