They kept that quiet!

The classic Channel 5 line up, Johnny Gould and Josh Chetwynd are currently on BBC R5 extra (digital, online, 7pm-11pm) commentating on the White Sox vs Kansas Royals. Looks like they covered one last week, and will be covering the All Star match too. Woohoo!

Yeah I know there is some football thing on, but I never thought I would see baseball on the beeb!

So it's on radio only?

I like Johnny and Josh; but I've got mlb.tv this year.

Maybe they should show the All-star game on red button?

Yep radio only unfortunately, I suspect all the rights to show baseball in the UK are tied up with the Freeview ESPN channels. They did say they were commentating from the mlb.tv feed, so maybe that's the best of both worlds to have that streaming with R5 Extra commentary. Thinking about it, it makes sense. It can't cost much for 2 guys to do a commentary, and R5 Extra hardly ever broadcasts anything late evening at this time of year. They even have a proper BBC Baseball jingle, so who knows what might happen!

Shame Five had to drop MLB, cos Johnny & Josh know their stuff and IMO very good presenters. Also that Italian/American dude and Mike Calson.

I’ve met them all except Calson and all good guys too!

I've got mlb.tv now and it's only @US$120 for the whole season with live and archive games, bargain!

Yeah, I paid for the World Series last year. Good stuff, but not the same without the UK commentary. Unfortunately $120 is a wee bit much for my stretched income at the moment frown

Of course, it might help if the BBC site was actually streaming this, and not some football podcast! Grr.

+1

Johnny & Josh/Italian dude's banters were what made Five baseball great.

>BUMP< For nighthawks, the All-Star game is about to start on 5 Live Sports Extra. Assuming they don't screw up the streaming this time.
