Isn't the point of "spot the ball" that it's a lottery - from before lotteries were allowed in the UK? So there is no skill involved - the ball could be anywhere.

No idea about the history of spot the ball, but surely there is 'some' skill to it, looking at the players eyes to see where they are looking etc?

Although Im guessing some of the ones they use are completely mis-leading, like a trick 'spot the ball' where everyone has anticipated a massive clearance just before an air-kick, so they are looking the wrong way?!

They get someone to guess the correct result before the comp starts to prevent you finding the same photo and knowing the correct answer.
