I am not a raving footballist fan, but appreciate quality games , involving top teams, but this evening, wss it me or did the Ref deserve Man of the Match?

OK, admittedly in the grand scheme not a crunch match yet, but as in Rugby, he refreshingly allowed 'Play On', cautioned the pathetic amateur dramatics (even rarer!?), didnt appear to favour one side over the other, and bizarrely the players didnt appear to hound him! . . and other stuff perhaps . . .

Well done the Spaniardish chap whoever you are . . .

Oh, and that Adam Johnson fella looks useful!

I can't remember the chaps name off the top of my head but whenever i've seen him ref the la liga games he's usually pretty card happy, from the little snippets i saw last night i seemed a bit more reasonable.

If he's usually quite card happy, maybe that's why the players behaved......
