Chaps

Im currently in the process of getting fit to apply for the Army. The main component has been running...lots. However i also need to be able to hit the sit ups and press ups quotas.

Now all is going ok but i have noticed i've lost weight since i started, i was a comfy 34 waste but am now a baggy 34....which is annoying...hate shopping frown

So basically how can i get some bulk back? i know the stuff thats going is fat but i dont want to waste away wink Im about 5' 11" and weight a tad over 12 stone atm, i don't eat rubbish at all and do a reasonably active job, im not sat at a PC all day. At the minute im running 3 miles a day, interspersed with the times 1.5 miles. In addition i also do sit up/press up reps and vent my anger on a punchbag. I not a massive gym fan but am a member...

I've seen creatine supplements and the like and have mates who use it, just wondered what the crack is with it and how you make it work?

Any input welcome, sorry to sound like a numpty.

Print this out, put it in an envelope and mark it "Open in 2030".

You'll piss yourself when the time comes.

Will just hitting the weights with my existing "normal" diet do the job or will i need to look at the whole protein shakes thing?

I really am clueless on all this, sorry

Keep the bulk down until you're through basic training - the less weight you are carrying, the easier it will be on your knees.

To be honest even bulking up wont give you a huge waist, iv gone from 28 to 34 but theres defo somefat there, diet is super important, even with your active lifestyle you need protein to repair them muscles, whether thats through your normal diet or supplements, i try eat atleast 200g protein a day at the least!, chicken, tuna, milk, yougurt, peanuts, protein shakes whatever ill eat it.

Work that lower abs and obliques and it will grow back up, seriously why would you want a tubby belly?

If you want to get up to scratch with pressups & sit ups you ned to do them, strength won't necessarily help as much as you think, a lot of it's down to technique and experience. Google 100 pressup challenge and get going as soon as possible, don;t kid yourself and lie, if you fail just start again. Pretty sure it'll help you more that bulking up...
