Skiing - Cairngorms

Hi there

I'm looking into organising a holiday to Aviemore in the new year, and if there's any snow, we'd like to get some skiing in on the Cairngorms.

We're hoping to go away either February or March - can anyone recommend which of these months might be the better of the two for skiing?

I know that the Ski Club of Great Britain has some snow records on its website for the past 17 years, but you have to join and pay for the priveledge of accessing the information beyond the last 12 months!

Also - there might be other factors to consider like daylight, wind strengths etc?

Any thoughts - please let me know!

It really depends on the snow. We could have a thaw at any time which would really muck up the base.

Last year the skiing seemed best in Jan/Feb time, had a couple of awesome bluebird days, once you start getting into March/April it can get a bit cruddy and the snow can be old and grainy. Also it can get scraped bare in various places.

I would keep an eye on www.winterhighland.info to see what their 5 day forecast and general conditions are.

Personally I would go in Feb. HTH
