Mrs Manks is keen for us to go to see some of the 2012 olympics. I am not so keen. Not because I don't want so see some of OUR olympics, I do, but I have got a feeling that the organisers are going to mess up the running of the thing and that it will seem like a waste of time and money.

My fears are based upon the disastrous Millenium celebrations, our performance at the closing ceremony of the last olympics, the fact that our logo looks like Little Red Riding Hood giving head and that the mascots look like penises. The signs so far are not good and I fear that the whole thing will seem like it was designed by committee, leaving us underwhelmed.

Am I being unjustifiably pessimistic?

Nope. It wont be a patch on Bejing. Although most of the seats should be filled by people who want to be there and not students who are forced to sit and watch.
