A crap spell at Liverpool did not suddenly turn him into a rubbish manager, I hope he does well.

We're already in a relegation battle! I'm sure there will be a mixed reaction amongst supporters to his appointment. Quite a lot wanted Chris Hughton. However, if Roy keeps us up, he'll be hailed a hero; if we go down, everyone will blame di Matteo... looks like a win-win for him, but to kepp us up he's got his work cut out.

Hornet, what did you make of Carragher's interview after the Chelsea game where he expressed his complete respect for Roy, emphasising that there hadn't be significant changes since he left?

Absolute respect for that, and Kenny for that matter - I'd expect nothing less.

....but I didn't catch that bit. It's not how Agger tells it either - or indeed other players when talking about the influence of Steve Clarke.

Carragher's interview after the Chelsea game was exactly as I would expect from someone who sees themselves as a future potential manager, of another club or Liverpool.

Jamie is not stupid, he's more intelligent than his accent would appear to suggest smile and gave a very 'political' interview. He wasn't going to be disrespectful to either Roy or Kenny.

Actually, he's a bit like Kenny in that he will not be drawn to say anything that is out of place.

Unfortunately I believe this was one of the main failings of Roy, his interviews were filled with ludicrous statements which very quickly lost him the support of the team, supporters and unlimately the management.

To be fair to Carra he has smartened up his speaking a long way from when he started out. Very much like Becks and Redknapp. Compare and contrast to Gerrard and Rooney who havent put anytime into public speaking and Gerrard does a fair bit of it. Carra now plays it very straight, says the right things, still talks in the accent but the way he phrases how he speaks is now very different.

Bright chap.

Gerrard will go into the media when he hangs up his boots - Carra will stay in football. At least - that's how I see it.

Redknapp is far more aware and intelligent on screen than Gerrard ever has been or could be.

Gerrard shouldn't have that career, he's not right for it.

Has he?

Got any clips of when he started out?

He doesn't sound like a criminal for a start, that helps.
