Millwall fan posting ( no sympathy expected)

I was at the Sheff Utd game this weekend, at the end of the game I was half expecting the police to keep us behind for a bit to allow the Utd fans to disperse. But no they let us all out onto the street and stood in a feeble line between us and the Utd fans. Told us to follow them down the street and we got pelted by missiles my chum got hit by a full coke can which cut him badly. Police said are you alright " keep moving" they couldn't have done a better job to get us if they'd tried.

I know we have a reputation and suffer for it, but was it in the papers ? was it ..... And as for the police absolutely pathetic Shef.Utd should ask for there money back.

Which brings me to my question ,I was told the police are not allowed to keep you in after a game is this so? Because in my case it would have caused a lot less bother if they had.

Was the "feeble" line enough to keep you from getting at The Blades' fans?

Been following The Lions from the early 70's, other than when I've got involved in non league and the police have adopted many different tactics over the years. Seems their latest tactic is to let everyone out at the same time, then film any incident and arrest those involved a few days later. Apparently it's a lot easier than doing it other ways.

Next time tell your mate to keep his head down.

In contrast, Saturday at Twickenham stood in the beer tent drinking surrounded by Italian and England fans, in the stadium equally surrounded by Italian and England fans, walk out again surrounded by Italian and England fans.

It really says something when "supporters" of teams can't behave sensibly and have to be kept apart.

That's because in Rugby, gentlemen are in the stands and the thugs are on the pitch*.

Whereas in football, the thugs are in the stands and the thugs are on the pitch.

  • although probably well educated thugs (don't tell them I called them thugs please?)

I went to the Wigan v Bolton cup game a couple of weeks ago at the Reebok. The police did a good job. Well prepared with scary dogs and horses, and were quick to react to anyone stepping out of line.

There were special trains services for the footy. From Horwich Parkway (stadium) to the centre. To get to Wigan you have to go to Bolton centre and change. First they'd let the Wigan lot on a train to the centre, then a train full of the Bolton lot. Took an absolute age but was the only way.

The Wigan lot were embarrassing. They just use the football as an excuse to get hammered and fight. Shouting racist chants across the platforms and just being general dheads. There were two Bobbies in each carriage, telling the 'hooligans' to keep it down etc, to which the abided by.

I'm not sure about keeping some fans in for longer, because you'd always get some idiots waiting for you, Green Street style. It could work, but they aren't prisoners, and there may be people wanting to get a quick getaway to avoid the crowds (What I normally do).

I was at Millennium Magic in Cardiff at the weekend. 7 Rugby League games over two afternoons 14 teams and 14 sets of fans representatives of which were all out on the piss together both Friday and Saturday nights (and a few of us on Sunday night, too) I didn't see or hear a hint of any argy bargy apart from the Salford City fans making a few wker signs...typical Mancs!

I was at a village rugby vestival back in the 90's, a place called Overton, there were 5 different teams from the UK and europe. The the Welsh lot got sent home early for kicking off, so Rugby's not squeaky clean as everyone makes out.

It may not be squeaky clean but segregation of fans isn't the norm.

What at Wigan or Bolton? roflroflroflroflrofl

Personally I can never understand the people who do leave early?

What is so important that you have to rush back for? If it's that important then don't go to the game.

At Wembley with 90,000 most of whom want to get a tube at Wembley Park then fair enough but at a normal ground and one that doesn't sell out every week, what's the point?

It's just quicker. Why would you want to spend 30mins+ queueing when you can leave two minutes early get home in that time?

In general, football's always been for the industrial working class and generates raw passion, rugby for the slightly higher intellect and a more controlled disciplined passion. There's a different set of social rules for the two followings.

What also needs to be taken into account - for some it's the main stay of their lives, they have no money and no big future other than doing the 'generation thing' and their club means a lot to them.

Throw in the nearest local rivals at times and passions will run high.

Sometimes it's good to have an 'edge' to a game rather than sitting around being happy clappy.

Because the last two minutes there could be a goal or two, at Prideless park on Saturday I saw dozens of sheep leaving with still 10 minutes on the clock.

Usually the ones to exit early are also the ones to head off for a pie and pint 5-10 minutes before half time, so they see what 70-75 minutes of a 90 minute match. Madness.

Fair enough, if it's a close game I'll stay, but if it's a certified whitewash then there's no point.

The only problem with the police is that they aren't allowed to use live ammo on the Millwall scum, I mean fans. I was in Bournemouth when your little charmers decided to ransack the town - I hope you all get raped with rusty barbed wire, the vile racist s. Utter utter scum, every last one of them.
