I didn't put this in the travel section as it seemed to be about PH meets and motorsport but if its moved then fair enough.

My and a friend are heading up to Ascot this summer as a nice little trip. Does anyone know how to gauge things dress wise for the grandstand event?
Obviously I am not eligible for the Royal Enclosure but neither am I going for the silver ring. Is the grandstand directly in between the two?
We are going on the Friday if that makes any difference at all.

Cheers,
Bob

Part of the fun, irrespective of the enclosure you're in, is to get dressed up. Wear a morning suit. You won't be out of place.

I can't think of anywhere I'd wish to go back to less.

I gave it two consecutive years (Royal enclosure bks too) in case I'd been in a bad mood or something.

Worked there when I finished school and its just down the road. Morning suit to suit and tie is fine. Either or.

Been a couple of times, Suit & tie, but you wont look out of place in the whole kit and caboodle.

Full of coked-up chavs and chavettes playing dress-up, according to a friend who went there last year.

Indeed.

Someone from here needs to scour the car parks for the "bad numberplate" thread too.

Every Chavvy cliche comes out to play at Ascot.

Only race day worth going to is Goodwood, as mentioned before it is just a load of chavs drinking ste beer and overpriced Champers.

Mind you compared to Derby day it is pure pleasure, has to be one of the most vile days of my life. Imagine Primark deciding to hold a race day event for its loyal customer base with WKD and Lambert & Butler sponsoring it, horrid

I will take along a camera for the number plates.
Shame about the nobs ruining it though.

God, yes. I did some promotional work there some years back and it was like watching an episode of Big Fat Gypsy Wedding. Somewhat entertaining though!
