jacking up car ...simple question
Discussion
Gday all
I purchased a 2 ton trolly jack yesterday .
My reason .. seeing that i have lost a pit in my garage in England.. now that i am living in Australia... just a garage and no pit!!!
Wanting to play around and take out my radiator fan cowling.....to fix it
My thinking was to jack up the car and sit it on a set of car ramps..so i can peruse underneath.
Apart from the normal jacking points on side of car.
Can i jack it up from the middle and then when at correct height place both car ramps on it and sit it down.
If so ..where do i do it from?
I hope i have explained my self well enough.
Mnay Thanks

That's what you get for moving to Australia!
Hope all is well. My S3 is currently on axle stands (again), I jacked it up on the steel tubes (part of the chassis) on the back, I assume the same applies to the front. As long as you jack it up on the chassis you'll be fine. I tend to jack the car from the side as it's easier to see where your pointing the jack
Hope that helps.

The way I use the ramps without resorting to a jack is to put the ramps on one side. That is one on the front and the back lifting one side.
For example to lift the right hand side I turn the steering to the left and put the ramps behind the RHS wheels. Then back up onto them.
