Yup! good old lotus still not running right.

A while back I had problems with the car running bad when on boost. I turned the boost down, which seemed to fix the problem.

A few weeks later and its doing it again!
Ive turned the boost down even more ( to the point where im not even pulling the actuator arm over the waste gate! ) and its still running like sh*t.

Off boost car is fine, but pops and bangs when you nail the thottle.

Please help!!! or Im going to sell it!

A couple of obvious points on this.
When you say it is only happening on boost, is this when it goes over .5 bar or over 1 bar etc.
Was it overboosting ?

After adjusting the wastegate did you remove the fuse to the ECU or disconect the battery. This will reset the ECU and allow it to relearn when to open the electronic wastegate pressure valve (forgot proper name)

Is there a leak somewhere on the inlet pipes between turbo and injectors. Possible under boost one of the jubilee clips isn't providing enough seal. Replaced mine with some slightly wider and stronger gripping versions and noticed a difference on mine at high boost.

Not sure on other peoples opinion on injector cleaning fluids, but a possibility that one or more injectors is not providing enough fuel under boost, running a little learn hence spits and bad performance. Either cleaning fluid or get them tested.

Final one I though about is to check the spark plugs, the gap and condition can be an issue under higher boost where pressure/heat puts them under the most chalenging conditions.

TBH it sounds typical over boost problem and the ECU is cutting fuel to protect the engine. Freescan and a borrowed laptop could be an idea. Kit available from www.lotusespritworld.co.uk

Hope that helps and is relevent to the SE.

Have you checked the wastegate to make sure it's not seized or sticking?
As the previous suggested, a leak on the intake side. I had similar problems when I replace my petrol tank and had to remove part of the plenum. One of the gaskets was leaking so would bounce around when I tried to accelerate or when boost was on.
The other one was plugs but I think that I've seen post from you before about using Densos. I had problems with them and had to change back to NGK's.
The other was is your boost solenoid valve as previously mentioned. On most modern cars, when you turn up your boost, the ECU cuts in and limits the boost or fueling or both (telling it there is a problem). This is why most with SE's and above opt for chips as these take care of this.

I need to know symptoms first. You can e-mail me anytime or speak to Pete at PNM.

Cheers,

Plugs or plug wires are a good place to start when you're missing under boost.
