I've got my 91SE in the shop right now for a belt change and I was hoping to do a timing pulley swap. The instructions at www.rottenrodent.com/lotus/pulley_swap.htm sort of implies that the green dot pulley needs to be flipped front to back before installing on the intake cam. Is that right?

BTW, my intake cam currently has a white dot pulley. I can't find any reference to white dot in the manuals.

Please email me directly. I've got my wife watching for a reply so she can phone me at the shop and read me your reply. jan@szott.ca

Thanks

Jan,

The pulleys are dual purpose and have the letters 'EX' and 'IN' cast just inside their edge. Since this was originally a Front Engine application, the pulleys when viewed from the rear should read 'IN' on the back side of the exhaust pulley and 'EX' on the backside of the intake pulley. Set them up this way, and you're good to go. I suspect that your 'white dot' pulley was merely painted with white paint to make the dots more visible when doing a cam/crank alignment. Happy Motoring! ...Jim'85TE

Thanks to everyone for your quick replies.
I've got it sorted out. It is much easier onece you have the pulleys in your hand.
Thanks again.
