Just wondering, how do all of you use the clutch when taking off? Also, how many rpms do you give your car before you get wheelspin?

I usually slip the clutch gradually up til 2000rpm, and I get a small bit of wheelspin when I drop the clutch at 4500rpm (Which I've only done twice. I never drop the clutch with more than that).

I don't just drop the clutch at all.
I engage it smoothly then drop the hammer.

Depending on conditions.

From a standing start within traffic I slip the clutch to around 2k. Done as little as possible.

I've never just dropped the clutch but do a smooth quick release around 1500 before pressing the loud peddle home.

grrrr to all of the world that slips clutches,, you need to engage the clutch quicky and smoothly. add some throttle to keep the car from stalling. and keep the revs below 1000 until you are fully engaged.
never let the clutch slip above 1500 rpm, unless you like the smell of money burning.
if you want wheelspin at launch go buy a mustang......

Launching a GT3 is the biggest problem of the whole car.

Choice? Drop the clutch and hurt your wallet (and look a bit inappropriate in Tescos car park), or engage smoothly and enjoy accelleration akin to a cross channel ferry until the 3000 rpm "fireworks" zone!

V8 clutch doesn't really let you slip like a 4 cylinder... its much more on/off. I drive like calvin said

The V8 clutch can be slipped with finesse but it is not recomended due to excessive wear.
If you want to launch the V8, have pcoket book with lots of $$$ but i do it with ease.
Ask Mark Weins about the 2 burn out tire patchs in front of his house,I did and no LSD is in the car.
Secret is a two stage drop, first one get tires moving then secoond one is WOT.If you drop without getting tires moving first you will damage half shafts.

Good Luck
