Hi everyone:

Hopefully someone can conjur up a correct Dupont (or otherwise) paint code for A60 Seal Grey. I've given my Lotus a little rash on its front spoiler. Used code Dupont BC 36483A as found here at my local paint shop. Not on file they said. The fellow even telephoned the Dupont hotline and they couldn't seem to dream up a formula for A60 Seal Grey from Lotus. They also couldn't reference from the numbers in the Lotus Service Notes. Of course by then I thought I'd written the number down wrong and went home to correct it. Nope, it was right.

Hopefully someone has it so that I don't need to get something custom matched.

Thanks in advance,

Hey Steve,
Sorry I can't help you, but I need to know the code for Nimbus Grey as well. The Dupont store here did not have the formula for Nimbus Grey, but they did have a formula for Monaco White. You might try one of the other paint companies, as the Service Notes list your Seal Grey as as ICI P4218147 and I don't think ICI is Dupont.
You could also try getting them to match it with their color reader machine.

(Hey, we should put our cars next to each other. Would be an interesting contrast.)

They'd look like an oreo cookie I'd imagine.

Thanks for the advise. I'll get them to match the paint directly.

This may help you. According to the Service Notes the ICI code for Seal Grey is P4218147. The body shop had the cross index for that number for PPG. I had my new X180R wing painted PPG paint code, 35201. This is really a metallic flake paint. It looks great and is an exact match. Of course, you need a clear coat over the color.

Lotusman:

Many thanks for the PPG cross. Comes up as 'Seal Grey' under the 'Agricultural' index. My front spoiler will soon look unblemished. That sure beats sawing off a chunk of car to bring in for a colour match.
