Damn accelerator cable broke tonight at the engine side. I was stuck at the side of the road. Good job we still have cent coins here,I lodged one under the linkage, got it running at 1500rpm and limped home. Looks like its another Jim'll fix it job!!

I fixed mine by buying a piece of stainless rope (cable) from McMaster-Carr, stripped the plastic coating off, fabbed ends, welded on the engine end, fed the cable through the sheath housing, put down ample protection in the foot well, put foot end on cable, welded on (MIG) foot end, done. Took about two hours total, including fabbing the ends on the lathe and I now have a heavy duty stainless steel throttle cable, 1/8" if I recall with a 400 lb working load rating.
