I cant find the temp sensor for the fans on my 94 s4 and my fans arent kicking in, also can any one tell me which relay controls them as my fuse and relay box is different to the one in my hand book

The temp sender is screwed into the underside of the intake manifold, there is a sort of cast-in log running from front to back that carries water from the water pump. Here's a picture:



The green arrow points to the water temperature sender for the ECU. Yellow is oil pressure (one wire is for the gauge, one for the idiot light). Orange is the oil temperature sender (to the gauge), and red is the knock sensor.

The ECU decides when to turn on the fans based upon its reading of this sensor.

Where is your rear relay box located, on the RH wheelarch, or in the relay box at the front of the trunk area?

Thanks for that sanj,the realy box is un der a large cover on the rh front wheel arch but the actual layout is different from my handbook so i dont know which relay does what
