I have always loved the Esprit V8's and very nearly bought one a year ago but eventually plumped for a Cerbera 4.5, which i do love and don't regret for a minute. However, its always on my mind what the Esprit would have been like, so much so that i would still consider purchasing one (and keeping the Cerb too).
Has anyone here ever owned a Cerbera and an Espirt V8 at some point or another, or at least have driven both and are aware of how they compare?

had a cerb up until the turn of the year and loved it.
unfortunately i smashed it up.
so i bought a v8 esprit.
the cerb wasnt as good on the road even with nitrons on.the esprit just gets on with the job without as much fuss and doesnt bottom out as my cerb did.
speed wise there isnt much in it,the cerb as the top end rush but the esprit has plenty of pull right from low revs and is far more friendly around town with no real jerkiness at low revs.
i loved the sound of the cerb and so the lotus can seem a bit tame but as the revs rise the sound gets harder and ive grown to like it.
obviously the cerb is more 'funky' but the esprit has that classic supercar shape and style.

i like both very much.
give one a try.

I think this one's been done to death on ph..

Cerb is a very quick car in a straight line (v8-gt esprit no slouch either at 9.5 to 100 mph) but esprit is probably quicker when the road gets twisty. All depends on state of tune of the vehicles and driver skills obviously..

Cheers,
so whats the reliability like with Esprit's in comparison with Cerbs? And service/maintenance costs and intervals? And what V8 lump is in there? So are they much better around town?

Sorry for all the questions - i will try and get some research done

i would say there are less niggles with the esprit but as with anything of this type they need proper care.
rob.e is your man for a full breakdown, but remember he was doing big mileage in his.
engine is lotus' own with twin turbos.
i think overall the lotus will be slightly cheaper to run.
