Wants:

1) Adjustable (height, stiffness)
2) COMFY! My car will never be tracked (by me).

Needs:

1) Parts must cost < $1500
2) Must not upset factory settings (unless I lower, or soften, etc..)

I was thinking about going with what PUK sells.

Thoughts?

Luke.

I've got PUK's suspension kit on my V8-GT and so far I'm very happy with the feel and performance. Like yourself I don't really use the car on the track and my main objective was a slight lowering while keeping the ride and handling characteristics close to the stock setup.

Marcus was as ever very helpful and the spring combination he recommended feels spot-on IMHO - the body control is tight, the ride is very supple and I haven't suffered any bottoming despite some spirited driving on quite bad roads.

So far I haven't played with the bump/rebound settings so can't really comment on the adjustment range.

Also, they are usefully lighter than the stock springs/dampers which has to be a good thing

Cheers

Thanks for the reply.

What spring number did you go with (4,5,6...?) and did you get 2 springs or 4?

One major concern I have is that his suspension setup is for all modern Esprits and I have to think that the 4cyl models have different damping requirements than the V8s.

Thoughts, anyone?

Luke.

I went with the DOT 5/6 springs (sport road use) and 4 springs. IMO it's worth the extra money to get new springs both front and rear.

According to the PUK site the kit fits all Stevens Esprit's, so I assume that the adjustment of the damper is different to allow for the lighter weight of non V8's, perhaps you could also choose a lower spring rate to compensate....

I'm sure Marcus can explain properly and give you a recommendation for a suitable setup.
