One observation (keep in mind that I'm brand new to these cars); it seems to me that you would get better performance by having left your air intake alone. It was pulling in cool air from outside the car. Now it draws "hot" air from being inches above a hot motor.

Some of you tech guys help us out with this please.

Hey Dindo.....Nice tread on those tyres, they look like Toyo's. If they are how do you find them performance wise? My man has just bought some for his hotrod as he wanted that awesome tread look!!, but the Elise people here swear by them and rekon they rock on the track too.

Hi Everyone,

For the question regarding the air filter, the filter is there only to prevent dirt from collecting in the valve. Most people prefer to let the air escape directly which also equates to more noise in a By-pass valve. Air really doesn't go in the filter, it almost always goes out under a closed throttle position with pressure in the charge portion of the intake. For me, it looks cool especially when the cover is on so it gives the impression that it is all business. When in fact, it really only provides the benefit of longer turbo life and some minor increase in performance when driving.

Kylie, for the tires, I have been very succesful with the Toyos. In fact, I have had every brand of tire at my disposal for testing and the Toyo always came out on top.

The bypass valve is a unit from Turbonetics. The Raptor is what it is called. To attach, I milled out the injector tube and fabricated a longer mount for the valve. Then I baked the tubes and welded so that there will be a precision weld.

For the wheels, they are HRE 447R 19x10 and 18x8. They were custom made with 4 inch lips on the back. For the 2002 SEMA show, there were only two cars that had this lip. Mine and a murcielego, is that how you spell it. For the seats, they are Sparco 951 Roadsters. I have full adjustment fore and aft but no recline. The weight savings was tremendous which results in increased handling given the lower center of gravity. As everyone knows, the lighter we can make our cars, the faster. Some time near the middle of the year, I am going to have them upolstered in matching leather as the interior. The wheels had really no negative effects in harshness regarding ride comfort. If it did, I would not have mind since I drive very aggressive. As Andy Wheeler knows, I have had some very powerful cars in my life. For the color, I still am contemplating painting it Laser Blue. But my painter which has done all om my cars gave an estimate that whould render this dream towards getting a V8 instead!

Cheers,
Dindo

Blimey, Dindo, that car rocks!

Love to see when owners put that much work into a car and personalise it. You Americans always seem to be able to get everything custom made to order!

Impressive.

Awesome....The partner said he would order me some if I wanted them as they come in the sizes that I need. But initially turned my nose up at them as they are incredibly cheap, which natually I figured the performance matched the price, totally unfair of me. (stuck up cow) I have Bridgstone Potenzas 16's and 15's which are pretty grippy on the track but that is all I know, so was going to get same again, if you have any experience in what I have for a comparison that would be cool. I have more confidence in getting these Toyo's now I will be looking at replacing tyres in a few months.

Love the way you have worked on your car yourself and put your personal touch into it. Hope you share some more.
Regards
Kylie

Dindo,

So sorry I missed this post.

The car looks amazing and I love the new rims. Dindo is doing some really nice inovative stuff to this car. He has access to pretty much the entire aftermarket here in america and some things that some of dont have access to.

Dindo please keep up the great work! I will be contacting you before to long about doing that BOV setup. I really like how it sets off the motor. My red powder coating turned out beautiful on mine but that BOV looks great there.

Cheers,

Andy

Hi Luke,

The painter I use is Bernt Carlsson. He is in the Costa Mesa area here in california. His estimate for the esprit was 5000 USD. It would be higher if I dropped off the car intact but the figure is when it is dismanlted, lights, bumpers, etc. The cost, to me, is cheap since his work is regarded as some of the best in CA. He has done 5 of my cars and all of them were much better than any stock paint.

Hope this helps. If I do paint it, I would use a color from House of Colors. Their material is strong and durable and they have colors that just look incredible.

Hi Andy, I hope all will be good for your vehicle. It had to come at a bad time but that is now the past. If your HRE lips got damaged during the incident, you can call them and let them know you need some lips. Talk to john and he can help you out. If you feel uncomfortable, I can do it with you. I just bought a Monte Carlo SS 2003 for my next show car at the 2003 SEMA Show. When I am done with this one, it will be what I call a modern replica of the primitive Nascar look. 20 INCH hre and of the course the works.

Cheers,
Dindo

Do you have pic of some of your other SEMA cars? Are you in the aftermarket biz?

Dindo,

Those seats are great! I would love to have some also. How much are you into them? Can you get yellow?

I also noticed your new steering wheel. If you have not alredy installed 5 point seat belts with your new wheel I highly recomend it for safty. I did if you have any questions.

Anyone can reply to me a dcajulis@yahoo.com

I am heavily in the aftermarket business. My Company is known as Rytek Projektz. I have consulted with many manufacturers regarding product launch and design. At one time, we were in the retail end of things, but we decided to become consultants to the industry rather than sellers. My main customer is General Motors. i have worked very closely with Jon Moss on a multitude of high profile concepts. If one tracks the history, most of my applications regarding project cars can be reflected in some GM cars.

For items to be sold, yes I do get distributor pricing. If those who want HRE or Sparco, we put them on the map for higher sales.

E-mail me direct if you have any questions that I may answer.

To view some pics of my cars, search Rytek Projektz and you will see a few!

Cheers,
Dindo

Dindo,

My passenger front rim was ever so slightly scratched but I am just going to send it over to wheel works here in town to buff the edge as it is barely noticable, but if I am not happy with it when it returns I will give you a call.

I used to keep track of Dindo's older LT1 f bodies in the mags years ago and was always impressed with the work him and his company did. They have a great eye for the SEMA stlye build ups.

It's so nice to have someone else into the Esprit's that has this vision when it comes to improving it. Dindo keep it up.

Everything with my car will be fine. If anything now I will have a completly new front clip so it will be completely free of rock chips and the like.

Dindo do me a favor and call me on my cell sometime when you get a chance I have some ideas I want to throw your way.

(832)754-2931

THanks,

Andy
