HELP! - Water hose and timing belt problems!
Discussion
Hello - I'm new here so treat me gently! My local garage is currently replacing a water pipe under my Esprit S2 that sprang a leak recently. They're having problems getting it on as it appears to 'foul' against the timing belt (!?) - anyone had similar difficulties? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi,
Sorry to hear of your problems. How long have you owned the car? Are you talking about a hose or a pipe?
If a hose, my suspicion is that you have the wrong hose. Many S2 owners upgraded their waterpumps to the 'Turbo' waterpump for it's greater cooling capacity.
If so, it uses completely different hoses than the original. The 'Turbo' waterpump is distinguished by the 'Gooseneck' thermostat outlet above the 'T'stat housing. This 'Gooseneck' curls it's way around the timing belt, but on top, not underneath. If they are using the wrong hose, there is no way to make it work. You will have to acquire the proper hose which is Lotus Part # A082k4190F - Coolant Inlet Hose. Hope this helps...Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE
