How many labor hours at the dealer should it take to replace the clutch on an S4s?

Skerd,

It's about a 16 Hr. job for the DIY, so I would expect dealer service to be 8 Hr.. The clutch can be replaced insitu without pulling the engine. Hope this helps...Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE

Book rate will be about 16 hours. That's what I would expect to pay a dealer.

Sanj and I have replaced his throw out bearing on his car in my garage in less than 8 hours, but that included alot of BS'ing at the same time. An experienced Lotus tech should be able to do the complete job in less than 6 hours, but I'm sure the book time is higher.

FYI: working alone I can pull the transaxle and engine from an S4 Esprit in 8 hours, but I've had several of them out...

It was around 1500 dollars including parts and labor for the clutch and everything that goes with it for me.

I havent seen the itemized bill but i am guessing it was around 12 hours labor at 80 dollars an hour....the rest in parts.

I had my clutch, pressure plate & throw out bearing replaced by Auto Europe (somewhat reputtable dealer in Michigan, USA) and paid $3000. I thought that was on the pricey side but I was desperate to get her running again. Jim
